The leader of Kosovo’s Democratic League (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, has suggested forming a unity government to resolve the country’s ongoing political stalemate. The proposal comes amid persistent disagreements between major parties, delaying critical reforms and EU-backed normalization talks with Serbia

.

Abdixhiku argued that a broad coalition could help stabilize Kosovo’s governance and advance key priorities, including economic recovery and diplomatic progress. However, skepticism remains among rival factions, particularly the ruling Vetëvendosje party, which has resisted power-sharing arrangements in the past.

Kosovo has faced repeated political crises in recent years, with frequent elections and short-lived governments hindering long-term policymaking. The EU and U.S. have urged Pristina to prioritize dialogue with Belgrade, but internal divisions have complicated these efforts.

Analysts warn that prolonged instability could weaken Kosovo’s international standing and delay its Euro-Atlantic integration. Abdixhiku’s unity proposal may face an uphill battle, but it highlights growing pressure for compromise among Kosovo’s political leaders.
