Illegal boarding house tenants told to hide from housing inspectors
Landlord James Truong instructed tenants of his illegal boarding house to hide from inspectors. A tenant revealed overcrowded living conditions and high rent. Truong faces a $113,723 fine and a three-year ban for breaching tenancy laws. MBIE had advised Truong against running the boarding house in 2020.
