Kosovo fighters sentence cut despite court upholding convictions for murder, torture

A court upheld Pjetër Shala's convictions for murder, torture, and arbitrary detention during Kosovo's war for independence, but reduced his sentence from 18 to 13 years. Judges cited insufficient evidence for some torture and detention charges and determined the initial sentence disproportionate. Shala, a former Kosovo Liberation Army fighter, was convicted for abuses at a KLA-run jail.
