Single MRI scan could be used to estimate dementia risk
New Zealand scientists developed DunedinPACNI, a tool predicting age-related disease risk using mid-life MRI scans. Tested on 50,000 scans, it links faster aging (measured by PACNI scores) to poorer health, cognitive function, and brain shrinkage. This tool helps scientists worldwide to intervene earlier and prevent age-related diseases like dementia.
