Thousands Of Free Native Plants For Lower Hutt - Let’s Get More In The Ground

Lower Hutt offers 4,000 free native plants to residents via the Mouri Tupu initiative, doubling last year's amount. Locals can register for up to five plants for their yards or community spaces. Collection days are scheduled across July and August at Avalon Park and Hikoikoi Reserve. Proof of residency is required. The initiative aims to reach 114,000 native plantings by 2025.
